Julia Ward Howe [Julia Ward Howe]
(1819–1910) the American who wrote ↑Battle Hymn of the Republic. She was a supporter of ↑abolitionism and a writer, mostly of poetry. She also established the New England Woman Suffrage Association (1868) to support women’s right to vote, and edited the abolitionist newspaper Commonwealth with her husband.
